Body parts on display are a subject of controversy. When displayed purely as an art piece, most people would probably see it as an unnecessary provocation. The closest example would be Damien Hirst's Mother and Child Divided and Gunther von Hagens' Body Worlds.

This, nevertheless, sometimes turns out to be a big commercial success.

Tattoo Museum in Amsterdam used real human skin on fake body parts to display tattoos where they originally have been on the body. The museum gone bankrupt a few years ago.

Another extreme example is Kunstkamera museum in St. Petersburg. The collection Peter the Great has created and curated has more than 2 000 000 "natural and human curiosities and rarities", including mutant infants, resting in the jars of formaldehyde. First museum in Russia.
